This week has began the final stretch towards the end of the module and has given me time to pause and reflect on what I have learned over the course of the module, mainly in preparation for the last deliverable, the 5 minute video.
Last Weeks SMART Target
Well this was
Read Peak: How all of us can achieve extraordinary things by Ericsson and Pool and write a review of my findings on this blog for next weeks reflections.
and yeah I have not done it. Mainly because it is a lot more extensive than I though it would be. I have begun reading through the book and have lots of new knowledge and thinking from doing so, I just have not managed to get through all of it. It has however really sparked my interest in the though process behind expertise and how we think this is defined. It has also reinforced some of my thinking behind my reasoning for doing this course and the need for me to practice more as due to my career I have been preaching a lot, and repetitively, so this book has given my new thoughts into how I can go about doing some more practice.
This Week
Has been a slow week to be honest. But not really, I have been doing a lot of thinking and reflecting. It has really been beneficial to do this as I am beginning to align my desires and career aspirations into what I am doing more. This has stemmed from emails with the tutors surrounding what I consider to be established knowledge, another touch back to expertise there. Also I have been looking back over all the content I have created on this blog.
I have also been looking into envisaging as part of the weekly content and found some great comparison between Agile methodology and Game Pitching which has changed my thought process on Game Design documentation. This is detailed in this blog post.
Moving forward I need to start compiling all of this together and working towards my final 5 minute video. I am confident I can construct this over the next couple of week and that the content will be relevant to my career aspirations, which is something I did not thinking I could say at the start of the module. So its worked I guess, still a lot of work to do.
Next Weeks SMART Targets
Right this is going to be very focused on finishing off and tying up lose ends. These will be strange SMART targets as they all lead to the last one with regards to timeliness.
- I will all previous blog posts and tidy up all the referencing within, I will also separate all of the figures from the actual references and give these separate citations. This will be done before the start of next week.
- I will plan out the content of my video from spoken word to visuals using Hack n Plan so that I can begin to create and gather the assets together and add an element of production value to the final pieces for show. This will be done before next week.
- I will document the references I will use within my final video in order to support my discussions and findings. These will need to be created alongside the assets I will be using so will be ready at the same time.
- I will be at a point where I can record my video and compile it in to its finished state by this time next weekend. The evidence for this will be the ability to sit down and record.
So there we go. Let the final stretch begin.
